After high school, he received his graduate degree in medicine and surgery from Cagliari University in 1990 and his board in Radiology in 1995 from the same University. He also received the master in endovascular techniques (advanced) from the University of Rome in 2005, the master in management of health companies from Luiss Business school of Rome in 2011 and the master in health management from University of Sassari in 2023.
Dr. Marcia is currently is the chief of Radiology at SS. Trinità Hospital in Cagliari, Italy. His primary field is spine interventional radiology and he personally performed treatments for trauma (vertebral fractures), degenerative diseases (disk, facet joint, spinal canal) and tumour ablation; in particular he has been involved in development of new devices for the treatment of spinal canal stenosis and tumour ablation.
He is widely considered Key Opinion Leader in spine interventional procedures.
He is also part of the Interventional Spine Council of American Society of Spine radiology He trained in Cagliari University and he organizes annually the MAMMI hands-on spine course for training in spine procedures; he also trained many physicians as private consultant for several companies (Stryker, Medtronic, SpineArt, Techlamed, Gelscom).
He also organizes the Sardinia Spine meeting that collects the best interventional radiologists in the world. He has published 43 papers and he has 8 book contributions; he had delivered 81 lectures or scientific papers as first author. He has reviewed articles for Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology (CVIR), European Journal of Radiology (EJR), Journal of Vascular And Interventional Radiology (JVIR), Neuroradiology, Journal of Bone Oncology and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders; he is part of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and CVIR Editorial board.
